Stone rocks "Kamenniy Gorod" surpassing the plains

The main adornment and sights of the West Altai reserve is "Kamenny Gorod" - town of granite rocks having fantastic shapes ("a tower", "a head", "dragons", "feathers", "mushrooms"). It is situated 90 km to the east from Ridder City along the motorway, and then 36 km of walking or riding.
The height of the rocks reaches 35 meters. The total area of "Kamenny Gorod" is 32 square km. Not far from here there is a beautiful Cedar lake.

Geomorphologically the nature monument is of great interest, as on the small territory there is great number of various relief shapes , atmogenic relief shapes, mountain tundra bogs, river vales etc. Nature monument territory is considered to be a sample of virginal nature and landscape with the special recreation purpose.

Plant cover of the nature monument includes 3 zones: mountain taiga, subalpine and alpine meadows, mountain tundra. Plant species of these zones are described in the part "West Altai Reserve". Besides "Kamenny Gorod" on the territory of the reserve, near its east border (Koksuy mountain range) there is the Koksinskoye staining of radon water.
